Jakarta, Indonesia — Royal Philips Electronics (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHI) aims to improve the quality of people’s lives through meaningful innovations, including lighting solutions. As a funding corporate member in the establishment of GBCI (Green Building Council Indonesia), Philips positively welcomes the formation of a formal Rating System in Indonesia – called GREENSHIP – which is used as the benchmark to evaluate a building before it is given the Green Building Certification. One aspect of the GBCI GREENSHIP Rating System includes energy efficient solutions. Philips Lighting enables money saving and sustainability increase, by using state-of-the-art LED lighting technology to minimize energy use and carbon emissions.

As part of continuous support towards Green Building movement, Philips participates in “GreenRIGHT – Green Building 2012 Conference & Expo” held at Jakarta Convention Center from 11-13 April 2012, by showcasing LED lighting solutions for industrial, office, and outdoor sectors.

In a media briefing held at the GreenRIGHT expo, Sinta Marino, Product Application & Green Mark Manager, Philips Lighting Commercial, PT Philips Indonesia, states: “Even the most competitive business needs to save costs where they can. Philips Industry Lighting Solutions offer manufactures easy ways to save money. Efficient lighting can help roll back operating costs by as much as 53%.”

“Lighting represents more than 15% of all energy used globally. With new lighting technology we can potentially save 50% of energy used today for lighting. This equals to Global savings of EUR 106 billion in energy costs per year; or 555 million tons of CO2 per year,” continues Sinta Marino.

All over the world, manufacturers are turning to Philips Industry Lighting Solutions to achieve certification for Green Building. For Aramex Warehouse in Dubai, UAE, Philips optimized the lighting load to 40% less than ASHRAE norms without compromising light quality. For Arcelik A.E. Electronics Enterprises in Istanbul, Turkey, Philips provided an eco-friendly, long life solution that reduces maintenance and routine replacements, and will also reduce CO2 emissions by 11%.

“As an example for the office sector, Philips has helped AUDI refurbish their three-story office building in Germany with a modern and efficient lighting concept to give staff the very best working condition. The solution now provides high-quality lighting at a lower cost with a better eco-balance. Audi now is able to save up to 58% of their energy costs,” explains Riris, Marketing Manager, Professional Government, Industry & OEM, Philips Lighting Commercial, PT Philips Indonesia.

LED is transforming the nature of lighting by opening up new possibilities for how and where artificial light is used to enhance the human experience. Philips creates lighting that brings more value, more beauty, more safety, more visibility, and do so with much less heat, less wattage, and less environmental impact.

The Suramadu Bridge is a beautiful example of how Philips LED lighting has helped in transforming the landmark not only into a magnificent object but at the same time also a safe one, giving a feeling of pride to the community in Surabaya and surrounding areas.

Another beautiful example would be the Water Fountain in Palembang. Philips LED lighting has truly transformed the water fountain into a masterpiece of beauty, a delightful object to look at as the night falls and the colorful LED lightings start to show their charm.

“As leader in lighting technology, Philips wants to inspire the public to contribute to the Green Building movement. We believe in energy-efficient lighting solutions that reduce environmental impact and save costs, while also increasing quality and productivity,” closes Riris.
