Philips Launches the "Innovation that Matters to You" program in Indonesia

Jakarta, Indonesia – Royal Philips (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHIA) today announced the launch of the “Innovation that Matters to You” program in Indonesia, a crowdsource program that gives innovators the chance to partner with Philips and key stakeholders to develop and deliver solutions to Indonesia’s challenges. In its second year, The Philips “Innovation that Matters to You” crowdsource program will be held from October 1st - November 16th and winning ideas will be implemented with up to 1.5 Billion IDR to improve the lives of Indonesians.

 

In its first year, Philips, in cooperation with key partners, implemented three projects in three different focus areas.  Visit philips.to/inovasi for information on last year’s winning ideas.

 

This year, “Innovation that Matters to You” by Philips program in Indonesia will focus on innovations for three different themes: Sustainable Rural Development, Empowering Mothers for Family Care and Improving Access to Healthcare.  As part of its goal to implement meaningful innovations, Philips listened to partners to determine areas in which the “Innovation that Matters to You” program will make the biggest impact.

 

Speaking at the launch of “Innovation that Matters to You” by Philips program in Indonesia, Rob Fletcher, PT. Philips Indonesia President Director said, “After the success of our first effort to crowdsource ideas for innovation and bring them to life, we are expanding the program in Indonesia, and we are proud to launch it. The Philips ‘Innovation that Matters to You’ program allows us to listen to Indonesians on their ideas to face challenges, work together with partners and deliver innovation that can improve quality of life in Indonesia.”

 

The crowdsourcing phase of The Philips “Innovation that Matters to You” program in Indonesia is now open: interested innovators may develop their ideas for three focus areas and submit them via the “Innovation that Matters to You” interactive website philips.to/inovasi. After the seven-week crowdsourcing period commenced today, the submissions will be curated and put to public vote, with the two winning ideas receiving up to IDR1.5 billion in funding from Philips to realize the idea into actual projects that help improve people’s lives.

 

“The substantial funding available means that Philips is serious about finding innovative ways to make a change in people’s lives.  These ideas should have broad and deep impact on a very large scale,” Fletcher said.
