Jakarta, Indonesia – Royal Philips (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHIA) today announced the two winners of the “Innovation that Matters to You” program that will be implemented with 1.5 Billion IDR from Philips. The two winners are Adisaputra Ramadhinara with his winning innovation CARDIEC and Hendris Wongso with his winning innovation The 1.000 Light Bulb Movement (Without Electricity).
“The Philips ‘Innovation that Matters to You’ program plays a large role in our goal to deliver meaningful innovation to improve lives. These two winning innovations were selected from over 4,600 idea submissions Philips is excited to deliver these innovations, along with key partners, to improve the lives of Indonesians,” Chatrine Siswoyo, Corporate Communications Manager said.
Adisaputra Ramadhinara’s CARDIEC is a communication tool that can be used by patients with heart disease to send a message to a central database as well as mobile phones. According to the World Health Organization, heart disease contributes to 17 percent of deaths in Indonesia1. CARDIEC aims to improve access to healthcare for those with heart disease.
The1.000 Light Bulb Movement (Without Electricity) by Hendris Wongso aims to light up rural villages with Philips lighting technology. This innovation will help support villages with limited access to electricity. According to the World Bank, there are still 35 percent of Indonesians living without electricity2.
The two winning innovations were chosen from 12 finalists by public voting at philips.to/invoasi. They represent the creativity and drive of Indonesians, having been narrowed-down from over 4,600 ideas submissions.
To implement the winning innovations, Philips will partner with key stakeholders within the fields of Healthcare and Rural Development. Philips recognizes the importance of actively collaborating with experts in the field to make sure the winning innovations have as much impact as possible.
