Indonesia’s vast and diverse geography, combined with a population exceeding 280 million and a rising burden of non-communicable diseases, make equitable access to healthcare essential for improving patient outcomes. To help address this challenge, Philips is collaborating with Indonesia’s Ministry of Health to expand access to minimally invasive care for patients through the nationwide deployment of image-guided therapy systems (cath labs). This effort is part of a multi-year agreement aimed at strengthening access to care under the Strengthening Indonesia’s Healthcare Referral Network (SIHREN) project within the Indonesia Health Systems Strengthening (IHSS) program. A key milestone in this rollout is the cath lab facility at RSUD Kabupaten Kediri in East Java. Following its installation, the facility is now fully operational and supporting patient care. It enhances the hospital’s capacity to treat heart disease, stroke and cancer, providing patients with access to minimally invasive procedures closer to home and reducing the need to travel to major urban centers. At the same time, the hospital is building clinical capability through its cath lab proctorship program, highlighting the importance of hands-on training alongside infrastructure to support high-quality care. The initiative was featured in national media Metro TV, highlighting how expanded access to cath lab services will improve care delivery for communities in Kediri and surrounding areas.
