My Sonicare toothbrush makes a loud noise

Published on 24 October 2022
If you find that your toothbrush is making a loud or abnormal noise, the troubleshooting tips below may help you find a solution.

If none of these tips help, there may be a technical issue with your toothbrush that you can not solve yourself. We recommend that you request a repair for your toothbrush. Depending on your location, you can arrange an online repair, visit one of our authorized service centers, or contact us.

The most common solution: Replace your brush head.

1.Remove the brush head from the handle.
2. Turn your toothbrush on.
3.Is your toothbrush still making a loud and abnormal noise?
  • Yes: your toothbrush is faulty, and you should probably arrange a repair.
  • No: if the noise stops, your brush head is defective or worn out. You need to replace your brush head with a new one.

We recommend using original Philips Sonicare brush heads. Non-original brush heads may make more noise than original brush heads.

The next possible solution: Place the brush head correctly.

If your toothbrush makes an abnormally loud noise, a loose brush head may be the reason. Ensure the brush head is firmly placed on the handle and not loose. A small gap will remain between the handle and brush head as needed for vibration.
